The deets

What do your camps provide?

Our Camps are educational in nature. They teach numerous art and mindfulness skills while building self-efficacy. We provide all supplies for our specialty art classes and artists get to take home all of their art. Hotchpotch encourages budding artists to take risks and have courage to explore. We like to use socratic questioning and learner led education with balanced guided instruction. We teach many niche arts in our enrichment camps, but we are not a daycare.

Why can’t I sign up last minute?

classes and camps are mobile and as such we must rent out space at local venues. Some places have 3 weeks to cancel, but most have 30 day to 60 day cancelation policies for refunds. Since we are a local small business unfortunately we cannot pay out of pocket with no campers. I know it is a bummer, but we do as best we can. It takes 5 campers to pay for the bare necessities so we cannot run without 5 campers registered. Thanks for understanding.

Are your instructors background checked?

Yes! Our instructors go through the same rigorous background checks that YouthPower365 Instructors go through. We do a TRAILS and child, domestic, sexual abuse, stalking, harassment, etc. of any kind including current and past partners.

If I want to take the class after the session has already started, can I still sign up?

Depends on the class! Select classes that are noted with Daily and Weekly rates can, but the other courses are progressive with. any moving parts and we are unable to offer daily rates.

What is class etiquette?

Our number one goal is to maintain a safe, comfortable, encouraging, and supportive environment in which children can begin to love Art, learning, and themselves.

We guide students by providing a safe, engaging, hands-on learning experience throughout class. Our goal is to empower them to feel confident and safe while creating and learning. We do this by asking the children lots of questions. Students are expected to act as they would during the regular school day by being respectful of our instructor, other students, provided supplies, and the space we are using.

If a student is acting disrespectfully toward our instructor, fellow students, supplies, or the classroom, we will notify the student’s family. If the behavior is not improved, any inappropriate or disruptive conduct will be grounds for dismissal from the Hotchpotch class without a refund. HA reserves the right to deny enrollment based on a student's behavior.

What if the youth programming I want is not currently being offered?

Please use our contact form on the homepage to request a course and we will try our best to get something on the books.

Are the age ranges set in stone?

There are many times we make exceptions. Some reasons for this might be that intellectually disabled students are often welcome even if they are over the age range, many youngsters are adept at following directions and quite dexterous at an earlier age, sometimes we have siblings willing to be sidekicks/helpers to younger siblings, etc. Please use the contact form to talk to us about your unique situation.

Do you offer discounts or Scholarships?

We offer early bird discounts as noted on the Sign Up pages. We have specialty discounts as well. These are “family bundle”, “sale stretch”, and BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ equity discounts which are valid off regularly priced and sale priced camps and classes as follows:

“Family bundle” 10% for 2 registrations, 15% for 3 registrations, and a 20% discount for 4 or more regularly priced registrations within the same family. The sale price “family bundle” is 7% off 3 or more camps and/or classes within the same family.

“Sale Stretch” 2 spring sale camps an extra $25 off before May 15th. 3 camps $40 off.

We will also sometimes have coupons in the Vail Daily. Feel free to check out our scholarships. Lastly, if you have a special circumstance that you would like to speak with us about, we would love to hear from you. Please use the contact form on the homepage.

Can my child sign themselves in and out of class or camp?

If you provide written signed instructions for your child in the informed consent liability waiver provided in the welcome email, we will follow your direction to allow the student to sign themselves out. If you need to change something after the session has started, please use the contact form.

oh no!… I am late to pick up my child! What are the procedures?

All of us at Hotchpotch we understand that traffic or just plain life can sometimes make a person late. Please keep in mind that parents that pick-up children late have an effect on everyone in our classes. Email us and let us know.

In addition to your child becoming upset if you do not arrive as usual, remember that our instructors are professionals, they may have another camp, some have children of their own, with their own commitments to attend to after class. Because traffic and other outside factors are always unpredictable, allowing a margin in your travel time is key. Since the primary responsibility of HA is your child’s protection and well-being, the following policy is set in place in the event that you do not pick up or arrange to have someone pick up your child at the end of class:

  • Hotchpotch will attempt to reach all emergency contact numbers, including parents or guardians at home, work and cell phone numbers, as provided by parent/guardian on the child’s registration form. It is your responsibility as parents or guardians to provide the number of all people who you authorize to pick up your child and to keep HA informed of any changes in these contact numbers.

  • If HA is unable to reach anyone at any of the contact numbers provided by the parent/guardian, and one-half hour has passed, with no information, HA may need to call the police.

  • LATE PICK-UP FEES: A late fee of $5.00 per child will be assessed after the first 10 minutes and an additional $1.00 per child for every minute after that will be assessed until your child is picked up. Invoices will be sent via email and fees will go directly to your child's Instructor. This fee must be paid in full prior to your child’s next class.

  • Under all circumstances, the staff of Hotchpotch will not hold your child responsible in any way for the late pick up, and discussion of this issue will only be with the parent or guardian.

How are absences Handled?

Hotchpotch does everything possible to catch a student up in class. However, HA does not provide refunds or credits for absences due to personal scheduling conflicts, family vacations, sick days, etc.

REGISTRATION TRANSFERS: There are zero processing fees to transfer your child's existing registration to another Destiny Weavers session or camp.

Low enrollment cancellation Policy:

Our classes need 5 registrations to run. So please do not wait to sign up or your camp or class may be cancelled for low enrollment. Hotchpotch makes the decision to run a camp 15 days before it starts. The reason we do this is twofold. We need to give our rental facilities two weeks notice if we will not be using their space and we want to offer parents and guardians advanced notice as well.
